Boot care recommendations
Proper care will help maintain the performance, comfort, and longevity of your Dedito boots.
Choosing the Right Socks
The type of socks you wear can significantly affect comfort.
Traditional cotton socks absorb moisture and tend to remain damp, which can make feet feel cold or clammy during extended wear.
For best results we recommend:
- Synthetic technical socks, or
- Modern wool blends designed for outdoor use
These fabrics help wick moisture away from the foot, allowing it to evaporate through the footwear and helping maintain a comfortable internal environment.
Looking After Your Boots
A small amount of regular maintenance will help protect the Wind-TEX® waterproof membrane and extend the life of your boots.
After use:
- Remove loose dirt, gravel, or debris from inside the boots.
- Clean mud and dirt from the exterior using a soft brush or cloth.
- Avoid exposure to sharp objects such as barbed wire, nails or hooks which may damage the outer material.
Drying Your Boots
If your boots become wet:
- Allow them to dry naturally at room temperature.
- Do not dry boots directly on radiators, heaters, or in front of open fires.
Excessive heat can damage leather and internal materials.
Stuffing the boots loosely with newspaper can help absorb moisture and speed up the drying process.
Leather Care
Leather boots benefit from regular conditioning.
We recommend applying a suitable leather care product approximately once per month to our PU Coated models and once every few days to our full leather models to help:
- maintain suppleness
- prevent drying and cracking
- improve resistance to water
Where possible, avoid contact with chemicals, salt, or other corrosive substances. If such contact occurs, clean the boots promptly.
PU Coatings
Where applicable, polyurethane (PU) coatings used in some footwear components may expand and contract with temperature changes.
Over time this may lead to small surface cracks. This is a natural characteristic of the material and is not considered a manufacturing defect.

Boot care recommendations for nubuck & suede
Nubuck and suede leather require gentle care to maintain their appearance and performance.
We recommend regularly brushing the surface with a soft suede or nubuck brush to remove dirt and restore the natural finish. A nubuck buff block may also be used to help lift marks, revive flattened areas and restore the texture of the leather. Allow mud or moisture to dry naturally before brushing or buffing.
Avoid saturating nubuck or suede with water and never dry boots directly on radiators, heaters or near open fires, as excessive heat may damage the leather.
To help protect against water and staining, use a suitable nubuck or suede protector spray designed specifically for outdoor footwear. Always test any care product on a small, discreet area first.
Regular maintenance will help preserve the texture, colour and durability of the leather over time.
Dedito waterproof clothing care recommendations
Taking good care of your Dedito waterproof clothing will help preserve its performance, comfort, and durability.
Washing Your Garments
Correct washing is essential to preserve waterproof performance and breathability.
For best results we recommend:
• Wash at 30°C (or on a cold wash) using a gentle spin cycle
• Use a technical fabric cleaner specifically designed for waterproof garments
• Do not use standard detergent or fabric softener, as these can impair the waterproof membrane
After Use Care
A small amount of routine care will help extend the life of your garments.
After use:
• Remove loose dirt or debris with a soft brush or damp cloth
• Ensure all zips and fastenings are closed before washing
• Avoid contact with sharp objects which may damage the outer fabric
Drying Your Garments
If your clothing becomes wet after use or washing:
• Allow to air dry naturally where possible
• Avoid high heat or direct contact with radiators, heaters, or open fires as excessive heat can damage fabrics and protective coatings.
Reproofing
Over time, waterproof garments may lose their durable water repellent (DWR) finish.
To maintain performance:
• Reproof as required using a suitable waterproofing treatment
• Apply after cleaning for best results
Additional Guidance
• Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
• Regular care will help maintain breathability and weather protection
