About Dedito

Where passion meets quality

The story

The chosen one

In 2003, a dog came into my life. Not just any dog, but one who would go on to influence it far beyond anything I could have expected. I often think he must have been “the chosen one”.

He was a working gundog, an HPR — Hunt, Point, Retrieve. His name was Dedito di primavera of Weimar’s Joy. Dedito means “one who is focused on something and will not let go until his knowledge is satisfied.” And boy, did that name suit him perfectly. Primavera was chosen because he arrived in the spring, and Of Weimar’s Joy is the prefix of the breeder.

We called him Dodi.  As Dodi was an HPR working dog, I decided to gather as much knowledge as I possibly could about the breed and HPRs in general. I travelled to Scotland and across the UK to train (and be trained) on the moors, so I could do as much work as possible with him.

It was Dodi who brought me to North Yorkshire, introduced me to wonderful people, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Diotto

While I was in North Yorkshire (UK), helping out on different moors and working my dog, I was asked if I knew the Diotto brand of outdoor boots from Italy. At the time, I wasn’t very familiar with the brand, so I did some research and discovered that Diotto were a small but high-quality manufacturer of quality, handcrafted leather boots, produced for many generations in the north of Italy, near Venice.

As I am Italian, people soon started asking if I could import some boots for them. I contacted the factory, and as it turned out we even spoke the same regional dialect — which immediately helped to establish a connection.

Where passion meets quality

“Dedito was born out of my passion for outdoor life, especially my love of the grouse moors in Yorkshire, being out there with my HPR dogs on rough and challenging ground.

We never stop listening to feedback and are always striving to improve our products. Our aim is to deliver the ultimate performance boot, made to the highest quality standards.”

How Dedito was born

Developed for the toughest conditions

After a few years of selling the Diotto boots — more as a hobby while I was living in the UK — I began to realise there was a clear demand for a quality outdoor boot specifically developed for the demanding conditions of the UK. From moorland to woodland, from rock to wet grassland.

In 2014, following feedback from several gamekeepers who were using the Diotto boots, I had a meeting in Italy to discuss the possibility of creating a true high-performance boot. At that point, I decided to develop outdoor boots under my own brand name, Dedito — inspired by my first Weimaraner. The brand became a tribute to the dog that brought me into this lifestyle, and so Dedito was born.

Dedito boots tested by gamekeepers

From the beginning, our boots were developed with the help of gamekeepers. To this day, we continue to work with gamekeepers across the country as our reference point, helping us stay in touch with the realities of the field and maintain the durability and quality of our products.

We regularly ask them to test our boots and provide honest feedback, which we use to continuously improve and refine what we make.

We now supply Dedito Boots to beaters, gamekeepers, guns, dog handlers, stalkers, farmers, walkers and a variety of outdoor pursuit enthusiasts.
